Frequently asked questions
What does QuietDeclutter do?
It shows how much storage your iPhone has, then looks through your Photos library for things you may not need: identical copies, near-identical photos taken close together, screenshots, large videos, and the extra shots in a burst. You review each group and choose what to delete. It also has a checklist of storage steps you can take yourself in iOS Settings. Everything happens on your iPhone; the app makes no network connections.
Can it clear System Data, caches, or other apps?
No. iOS doesn’t let any app see or delete another app’s data, its caches, or System Data, and QuietDeclutter can’t either. It works only with your Photos library. The in-app checklist lists the steps iOS itself offers, such as offloading apps you don’t use.
I deleted something by mistake. Can I get it back?
Usually, yes. Nothing is deleted until you tap Delete and iOS asks you to confirm. Deleted items then go to the Recently Deleted album in Photos, where you can recover them for 30 days. After that, or if you empty Recently Deleted yourself, they are gone permanently, and we can’t bring them back.
I use iCloud Photos. What happens when I delete?
Deleting an item on this iPhone also deletes it from your other devices that use the same iCloud Photos library. Items in an iCloud Shared Library are deleted for everyone in that library. Sizes shown in the app are approximate, because with iCloud Photos on, iOS doesn’t report exactly how much of a photo is stored on the iPhone itself.
Why are some photos never selected for me?
In each group of duplicates or similar photos, QuietDeclutter marks one photo Keep and may start the others selected as a suggestion. Favorites and burst photos are never selected for you, large groups of similar photos start with nothing selected, and your Hidden album is never scanned. You can change any selection before you delete.
QuietDeclutter can’t see my photos, or only some of them.
Open the iOS Settings app, go to Apps → QuietDeclutter → Photos, and choose Full Access. With Limited Access, the app can only check the photos you selected, so it can’t find duplicates outside your selection.
Where can I read the privacy policy?
The QuietDeclutter Privacy Policy covers everything the app handles. In short: QuietDeclutter collects no data, and nothing leaves your iPhone.
